Jan 2010 meeting

This is our first lunch meeting and the 1st meeting this year. We will take a look at some stuff that came out last year that I've had a chance to work with:

Expression Blend with Sketchflow - this is a graphic designer IDE for building UI applications - it's geared toward the visual designer but what's cool is the Sketchflow feature for quickly building UI prototypes.

WCF RIA Services - Introduced at Mix 09, RIA Services is a framework for developing n-tier applications.

We'll do an overview of these to get you a head start on new things to play with in the new year!

Note: this is a lunch meeting, starting at 11:30 am, at the library in the Browning Event room B. We'll do lunch and handle general business from 11:30 to 12:00, then have the presentation from 12:00 - 12:45 and have some time for questions and what not.

Oh, we do have some goodies that we received from Microsoft last month so there will be door prizes!

Meeting Notes

Well, we had our largest turnout in.... well ever... as far as I can recall.

About 30 people attended our lunch meeting today - thanks to all for coming. Tek-Systems provided pizza for lunch, thanks for sponsoring the group!

Based on today's attendance, we are switching to lunch time meetings, and meeting every other month, alternating with the SharePoint users group.

For the program today, I rattled on about the features of Expression Blend 3 Sketchflow for building UI prototypes.

Then I gave a brief intro to WCF RIA Services - which provides an infrastructure for silverlight applications and n-tier domain services for data and business logic support.

Our next meeting will be held March 16th, 11:30 am -1:00 pm, Browning Events room, EVPL. The speaker will be Leon Gersing who will give us a presentation on Jquery and how to use it with .Net applications.
