Codezone
Modified By tkraft on 4/27/2007 3:55:28 PM)

The codezone.com site is a colaboration site for user groups.  If you'd like to create a profile and join our group...the usergroup name is "evansvillednug" and the password is "please".  Here is the blurb that was sent to me.  I think that this site has a lot of good information and can be a good resource for our group.  Enjoy.

Dear User Group Leader,

In partnership with INETA, we would like to announce the new release of the Codezone User Group Experience at Codezone.com!  This release includes a Local/Regional Speaker’s repository, a Sponsorship repository, MS Learning Study Groups, and an upcoming release of a new Codezone User Group kit.

USER GROUP KIT

As part of this new release, we will open up a User Group Kit cycle pilot on the week of 4/24. This will allow you as a user group leader to order items for your user group meetings.  The new functionality of the site lets you choose which things you are interested in - including books, software, hardware and promotional items.  This will be a brief pilot lasting for only about a week so we can test out the functionality and make sure everything is in working order.  All you need to do to take part in the pilot as a user group leader is make sure your group is listed on the site and the information is up to date.  Once the order period opens, you will be able to access the kit on the User Group Tab.  After this pilot, we will be opening up the next kit cycle in June, and after that every 3 months to provide you with valuable resources for your user group meetings.

SPEAKER REPOSITORY

To complement the INETA Speaker’s Bureau, we have built infrastructure to help support local and regional speakers.  Encourage your local speakers to add themselves to the Speaker repository. Then other user group leaders in the area can connect with them and get them signed up to present at the meetings or community events.  We know you can’t get a marquee INETA Speakers Bureau member every month so this is a great way to fill in those meeting schedules with great local or regional speakers.

SPONSORSHIP REPOSITORY

The Codezone Sponsorship repository is a place where you can connect with local sponsors for your events.  Over the next few months, we will be working with our partners to get them signed up in Codezone so they can offer valuable resources and sponsorships.  As a group leader, you can list information about what you are looking for from a sponsor, and also peruse offers from potential sponsors.

MICROSOFT LEARNING STUDY GROUPS

Do you have user group members studying for Microsoft Certifications?  Study Groups will help them get there faster.  We’ll help you organize study groups, appoint a leader, and receive support from Microsoft Learning.

Cracking the books in a group keeps people on track, and Microsoft Learning will also provide benefits like:

  • Vouchers for discounts on exams for study group participants
  • Facilitator guide for study group leaders
  • Study mentors in your area.

Help members upgrade their existing skills or add new ones – check out information about the next generation of certifications we’ve added this year!

QUESTIONS

Please visit Codezone today, to ensure that your User Group is listed and the data is accurate so that you can participate in the upcoming kit pilot.  If your group is listed, but your leader has changed, please contact us at support@codezone.com to update your information.

Re: Codezone
Update - 4/27 - CodeZone group change, our group on CodeZone has been changed.  If you registered and joined our group prior to today, you may need to rejoin the group on CodeZone.

For those interested in signing up at Codezone and associating your membership with the user group, here is some information you will need.
1) Best way to sign up is to register on the site and setup your location. then go to the User Groups tab and it will display a list of user groups.  Set the Sort By drop down to Proximity and it will show the groups closest to you geographically.
2) Click on the Evansville .Net user group name to display the group info page.
3) At the bottom of the page is the text box to enter the Access Code.  Enter the code that Bart mentioned at the meeting and you should get:
You were succesfully assigned to the user group Evansville .Net User Group

At this point, we're still learning what benefits/features are available with CodeZone and we'll update the group on those as we can.
Some more info from CodeZone is posted in the Events/Offers forum on the
Community Page.
Thanks,
Toby
